Sealers 101

Water sealers play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of concrete, pavers, and other porous surfaces. These sealers create a protective barrier that prevents water, oils, dirt, and other contaminants from penetrating the surface. Without this protective layer, moisture can seep into the material, leading to potential damage such as cracks, discoloration, and the growth of mold or mildew. In areas with freeze-thaw cycles, water trapped inside concrete or pavers can expand when frozen, causing significant damage over time. Applying a water sealer helps prevent these issues, prolonging the lifespan of the surface and reducing the need for costly repairs.

In addition to protecting against water damage, water sealers can enhance the appearance of surfaces by providing a glossy finish or enriching the color of the material. This added layer also helps to reduce the buildup of stains and grime, making surfaces easier to clean and maintain. Whether used for driveways, patios, walkways, or outdoor living spaces, water sealers not only protect the investment in these surfaces but also help maintain their aesthetic appeal. Regular application of water sealers ensures long-lasting protection and keeps surfaces looking new for years to come.

Introduction to EaCo Chem Sealers

EC 101 WB

EC 101 WB forms uniform, long-lasting, water-repellent coating on pavers, concrete surfaces, brick, and split faced block. This coating enhances the surface without leaving the surface slippery when used on horizontal surfaces. Efflorescence problems can be dealt with even after the coating has been applied. EC 101 WB protects from water, normal wear, and some food and oil stains.

Advantages of EC 101 WB

  • Water-based product will not cloud during the drying process if moisture is present.
  • Reacts with the substrate for excellent bonding, adhesion.
  • Allows efflorescence to pass through pores for easy future cleanup.
  • Easy application (no mixing, low pressure spray).
  • Good durability, resistant to traffic and wear.
  • Easy re-coating for touch ups.
  • Unaffected by most cleaners.
  • Shows long term water repellency.
  • Works on old and new substrates.
  • Stabilizes joint sand on horizontal applications.
  • Expected longevity of 10+ years on vertical surfaces

Limitations of EC 101 WB

  • Product should not be applied below 50˚F or above 85˚F.
  • Do not use on polished surfaces.
  • Protect from freezing

Surfaces Safely Used On

pavers, concrete surfaces, brick, split faced block

How to Apply EC 101 WB

Dilutions

EC 101 WB is a ready to use sealer, no dilution or mixing is recommended or required.

Application Instructions

Application of sealer not recommended if rain is predicted withing 24 hours of application.

Surface preparation: The surfaces must be dry. After rain, wait for at least 24 hours, or after cleaning the surface with pressure washer, wait for 3 days (in dry weather).

– Brush off parts with crumbly, powdery or encrusted surfaces.

– Clean stained surfaces.

Spreading: With a flat brush on very rough materials or with a roller (continuous supply possible with an airless type pump) – reserved for small surfaces.

Spraying: With an airless spray gun with a variable spray nozzle.

Note: Whatever the application method, the product must be applied until the surface is saturated, without being glossy. The glossy appearance should not remain. Most of the time, a single coat is enough to have the desired result provided product has been applied correctly.

EC 102 SOL

EC 102 SOL forms uniform, long-lasting, water-repellent coating on pavers, concrete surfaces, brick, and split faced block. This coating enhances the surface without leaving the surface slippery when used on horizontal surfaces. Efflorescence problems can be dealt with even after the coating has been applied. EC 102 SOL protects from water, normal wear, and some food and oil stains.

Advantages of EC 102 SOL

  • Good durability, resistant to traffic and wear.
  • Easy re-coating for touch ups.
  • Unaffected by most cleaners.
  • Shows long term water repellency.
  • Works on old and new substrates.
  • Enhances the color of the substrate
  • Protects from water and most food and oil stains.

Limitations of EC 102 SOL

  • Product should not be applied below 50˚F or above 85˚F.

How to Apply EC 102 SOL

Dilutions

EC 102 SOL is a ready to use sealer, no dilution or mixing is recommended or required.

Application Instructions

Temperatures should be between the range of 50° degrees and 85° degrees Fahrenheit before applying. Apply at a rate of approximately 200 square feet per gallon to achieve an even coating. If you’re spraying with low pressure equipment, spray until the material just begins to run on the surface.

Oversaturation will not give any better protection. Take care not to get the material on glass or any surface that is intended to be painted, as paint will not adhere to a coated surface. There will be a slight darkening of the surface with this material. Do not apply this material to a wet or damp surface.

The substrate should have a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours to dry before application. The EC 102 SOL should not be applied when rain is expected within the next four hours.
