Cedar Shakes
Stain Removal on Cedar Shakes
In 2010, the slaves quarters at Mount Vernon began to be restored. Included in the restoration was the removal of a failed stain on the cedar shingle roof.
InStrip was able to effectively remove all of the red stain without damaging the cedar shingles. Since InStrip is extremely safe, there was no need to shut down any part of the facility during the process. Tours were still being conducted while the work was being done. The grain of the wood was not raised or fuzzed.
