This ‘Multi-Family Project of the Year’ winner was cleaned using NMD 80™. This construction was built to replicate New York City townhouses with high end accents. Slate roofs as well as LEED Certified Construction are some of the outstanding features of this project. The use of NMD 80™ over all of the surfaces produced the end result that was award worthy.
At 129,000 square feet, Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business was a big project. This project was initially cleaned using a competitor’s product that resulted in a clean that was unsatisfactory. The initial clean left a haze pictured to the left of the photo. A test was performed and NMD 80 removed the area with the residual haze as well as providing a successful method for the post construction clean-up. The removal of the mortar smears from the entire complex resulted in a stunning result.
This courthouse serves as the headquarters for the US District Court of Boston, Massachusetts. This project is of special note because the excess mortar on the 1.8 million Morin water struck bricks was successfully removed using NMD 80 almost 25 years ago. This project showcases a brick that has a manufacturing process that, once fired, creates a unique textural pattern (this pattern can be seen in the close-up picture of the building). This brick is made using a higher water content than standard manufacturing processes that can tend to effloresce when cleaned with products not recommended by the manufacturer. NMD 80 is the product of choice when cleaning this type of brick.
Inventus Masonry Cleaning was brought in to clean the new construction mortar from the I Promise Housing building in Akron, OH, which houses students from the I Promise School funded by the LeBron James Family Foundation for at risk kids. Because of the construction site, extra strength concrete was tracked across the asphalt entrance leading to the housing building and made a complete mess. NMD 80™ was again the correct choice to clean up the entrance and create a curb appeal they were looking for. Inventus had two product options to choose from for this project. One was EaCo Chem’s NMD80™, and the other was a competitor’s product. They made the right choice by choosing the #1 New Masonry Detergent in North America.
This building was designed by the renowned architect Frank Gerhy. The building is of note due to all the various angles which, though very interesting visually, provided a challenge when removing the mortar smears and excess droppings. The mortar droppings clung to many of the angled surfaces which were more horizontal than vertical. This remarkable structure was cleaned without affecting the mortar joints or the angled surfaces. NMD 80 left the building with a clean surface that allowed the design to stand out instead of the excess mortar.
NMD 80 was used by this contractor to restore the newer concrete that was coated with 2 years of heavy red mud stains. This is another example of the versatility of the EaCo Chem product lineup, and the different stains and substrates that can be restored easily, safely, and cost effective. Note: This worked in this instance, but OneRestore and HD Britenol are preferred for use in this type of staining issue.
