Smoke Melt
Alkaline Masonry Cleaner
Description and Use
This is a highly alkaline cleaning product that will remove heavy carbon deposits from metal, wood or masonry at high dilutions. Great care must be taken when applying this product because of its highly active penetrating nature. Smoke Melt will strip latex and enamel paints in a short time. Smoke Melt is good at softening the heavy black smoke from fire damage that occurs on masonry.

Surfaces & Air Temperature
To avoid harm to masonry, do not clean when temperatures are below freezing or will be overnight. Best cleaning results are obtained when air and masonry surface temperatures are 40° Fahrenheit or above. If freezing conditions exist prior to application, allow adequate time for masonry to thaw.
Pre-Testing
Always test prior to beginning full-scale cleaning operations. Testing should confirm cleaning effectiveness on each type of surface and stain designated to be cleaned. Test also to determine the desired surface contact time and any potential for adverse reactions with adjacent materials. Allow test panels to dry thoroughly before evaluating final appearance and results.
Dilutions
Cut @ 4:1 up to 9:1 then apply downstream through a pressure washer for severe smoke damage. Cut @ 15:1, then low pressure application for light smoke damage. For brushing application only use product straight up to 10:1. Always complete the cleaning process with a high pressure rinse to remove the product.
Suitable Substrates
Metals, Masonry materials and Wood
Application Instructions
Always protect the surrounding areas by temporarily covering with plastic. If you are spraying this product always try to stay away or above the mist, as it will burn your skin. For black crust removal the product is used straight and left to soak on the surface for 15 minutes to an hour. Pre-wet the area before applying the product and use a nylon brush to apply. Use a high-pressure rinse to remove the product. When removing smoke damage use much higher dilutions but it is still a good idea to give the product lengthy dwell time as Smoke Melt has special additives that cause it to float the soils to the surface. A pressure washer rinse is always needed with this product, preferably in the 1500 to 3000 psi range.
