HD-ACID
Heavy Duty Hydrofluoric Masonry and Stone Detergent
Description and Use
An exceptionally strong hydrofluoric acid cleaner for deep stains in most porous masonry surfaces. This is an excellent cleaner for pulling stains of pollution and minerals from the pores of open face brick and sandstones. HD Acid is not safe on glass or most surfaces. Precautions to protect the surrounding environment must be used at all times. The person applying this product must take all necessary precautions including but not limited to rubber gloves, rubber suit, taped sleeves, goggles, face shield and safety helmet. Glass, plants, and sensitive surfaces such as anodized aluminum, marble, and limestone should always be protected by plastic or coating. It is recommended that you use GS Restoration or SafeRestore for hard faced or glazed surfaces.
Advantages
*Concentrated for super strength cleaning action.
* Proven effective for cleaning the dirtiest and most heavily carboned buildings.
* Safer than sandblasting. Will not pit or damage the masonry surface when properly used.
Limitations
* Not recommended for interior use.
* May not be suitable for some polished stone, glazed surfaces, glass or anodized aluminum.

Protect:
Test and protect adjacent and surrounding surfaces not intended to be cleaned from exposure to the cleaning solution. Heavy Duty Acid is corrosive, etches glass and architectural aluminum and is harmful to wood, painted surfaces and foliage. Beware of wind drift.
Application Information
To avoid harm to masonry, do not clean when temperatures are below freezing or will be overnight. Best cleaning results are obtained when air and masonry surface temperatures are 40° Fahrenheit or above. If freezing conditions exist prior to application, allow adequate time for masonry to thaw.
Pre-Testing
Always test prior to beginning full-scale cleaning operations. Testing should confirm cleaning effectiveness on each type of surface and stain designated to be cleaned. Test also to determine the desired surface contact time and any potential for adverse reactions with adjacent materials. Allow test panels to dry thoroughly before evaluating final appearance and results.
Dilutions
This product should always be diluted. Dilutions will range from 2:1 to 20:1. 2:1 would be appropriate on stone or open face brick only. 20:1 would be for paint wash remover and hard faced bricks. Note: Dilutions will vary based on application and surface to be cleaned.
Application Instructions
A test patch is always done before a job to determine dilutions, proper product, and final results. We recommend two mild applications with no rinse between as superior to one strong application. Apply the product with an acid brush or low pressure applicator, either electric or hand pump. Dwell times are relatively short with this product so do small areas at one time or have rinsers working at the same time as an the applicator. Rinsing must be done with a high pressure washer as the Hydrofluoric acid will penetrate and solubilize deeper then low pressure can reach. Environmental regulations vary greatly so that it is impossible to determine the best approach to dealing with the runoff, in the past neutralization before rinsing was recommended. Check your local regulations and situation before proceeding.
Coverage Rates
Coverage rates will vary from 100 - 250 sq. ft./gal. depending on the surface porosity, texture and severity of staining.
Safety Information
Precautionary Measures: Always wear goggles and rubber gloves when handling this product. Keep off of skin and clothing. If material comes in contact with clothing, wash before reuse. Contains Hydrofluoric and Sulfuric Acid, do not get in eyes, on skin or clothing. Avoid breathing fumes. Keep container closed when not in use. Use with adequate ventilation. Applicators should wear rain suit of plastic, rubber or PVC, boots and gloves, face shields and goggles to avoid splash to bare skin or eyes and MIOSH/ MSHA approved respiration for use with Hydrofluoric acid. Take precautions to avoid exposing building occupants and workers to fumes. Dispose of empty containers according to federal, state and local requirements. Use well maintained staging, scaffolding or swing stages equipped with steel cable. Use polypropylene ropes and safety lines. Avoid drifting of material or rinse water onto autos and pedestrians by protecting or diverting such traffic. Do not ever dilute HD Acid with any other product except water.
