If the Competition Leaves the Door Open,
Walk Right in and Fix Yourself a Good Meal.

The Fairmont Hotel downtown New Orleans presented a really interesting challenge to chemically clean. The danger of burning the surface was extreme as the facade was terra cotta and the hotel had over 1000 antique 100 year old hand floated windows. The inner court yards is made of the very porous St. Joseph’s brick with bad atmospheric staining that needed a strong
cleaner. Our big name competitor had put up an impressive array of 13 different test panels that unfortunately for them weren’t clean. This opened the door to a small unknown chemical firm from the Pittsburgh region where the toughest pollution dirt is an every day reality. We sent our GS Restoration (The G.S. stands for glazed surfaces) down with instructions to do a presoak on the brick and then double apply the soap without rinsing in between, and follow this with a pressure wash rinse. The superintendent on the job Tom Neelings of D. Zhelinsky of Brisbane California ran tests with the product and settled on a double straight application for the St. Joseph’s brick and the 1 to 1 dilution for the terra cotta. He further tested the effects of the product on the windows and chose not to cover the glass. This of course profoundly affected his bottom line because now he was not covering 1000 windows at an average cost of $65 each. There was also a considerable savings of time to factor in and that many bonus days could cover a whole raft of troubles while keeping on schedule. The final results were that this 14 story building that spans a city block and can host small conventions was upgraded, and beautified while it was kept open as the day time work progressed. Glass and chemical burn to the building were not a problem and the brick stains were removed with out hydrofluoric acid. Also as I understand it the final cost of chemistry was 35% below projections because they also used NMD80 to clean after pointing for another considerable saving in time and money.

NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT
EaCo Chem Inc. announces a new Polished Stone Cleaner (Neutral). This product is different than the butyl alcohol cleaners available for interior cleaning. There is a little to no odor with the neutral cleaner and is very mild and safe to the skin. This product is very much designed for interior use as it does not foam on pick up. Many inside jobs have no floor drains or are areas where spraying would be inappropriate. This soap is readily vacuumed up with out the usual foam problems or can be simply damp cloth rinsed. Polished Stone Cleaner is capable of removing smoke, finger soils, general dirt, and some acrylics. It will not change the color of the stone and is safe for paint generally. For additional information about Polished Stone Cleaner Neutral don’t hesitate to call us Moday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM E.S.T. toll free at: 1-800-313-8505
