Pictured
above are the actual test samples of coatings on glass products
left on mirrored glass at EaCo Chem, Inc. for one month. In every
case the sealer was applied very heavily to mimic a worst case scenario.
All the products were removed almost instantaneously with the Graf-Ex
product. (A brown residue was noted with both Modified Polysiloxane
and Modified Siloxane products which was removed with SafeRestore.
This brown residue was an apparent reaction with the surface and
a wipe with undiluted SafeRestore
removed the film immediately.)

We
anticipate no special precautions with Graf-Ex
as it is safe for people, anodized, and glass. We sell it to
safely remove graffiti from paint. It is water rinseable and
is stopped by the addition of water so it is very controllable.
We observed on another window where none of your products had
gone, a hazing occurred on the mirrored glass from the SafeRestore
but not the Graf-Ex. |
This
area has had another stripper used to remove a different siloxane.
We would recommend that if any one can see little black dots or speckles
on the surface they abstain from using SafeRestore
on that area. There could be an issue of various films applied to
the glass that we cannot directly address. Any literature you prepare
should mention this issue specifically. All these products are
safe on undamaged glass but no warranty is made on glass that is etched
or has an external film applied. These products may be safe in these
circumstances, and have proven to be so in many cases, but no guarantee
can be extended.

The
appropriate procedure for removing the coating would be to use
a cloth or brush that has been wet with Graf-Ex
and wipe it on the coating. The softening should occur immediately
if the coating is fresh or in 15 to 30 seconds if it has cured
for weeks. Simply wipe it off with a clean cloth or rinse with
a spray bottle, garden hose, or pressure washer. The sure sign
of successful removal is that no beading of the water occurs
during rinsing. If beading still occurs, squeegee the glass
dry and repeat the application with a longer soak. You would
then remove the residue. SafeRestore
used straight will remove modified polysiloxane. It would be
sprayed or wiped on and then rinsed and removed as above. |
Polyurethane
The picture shown on the right is one of a project being done
in the Washington DC area inside a multilevel garage. The garage
had 10 layers of polyurethane coating that needed to be removed
before the concrete was cleaned. The coating was removed with
the application of Stripsol that
was allowed to dwell and then removed with a high pressure rinse. |
