1. Lightly pre-wet or pre-cool the wall.

2. EC Jet apply chemicals to entire drop to be cleaned.

3. After first application of chemical, scrape large chunks with the long-handled scraper from first 8ft. of the wall.

4. Check smears and tags to see if they crumble easily (N-type mortar usually only requires one application. Harder mortars and extensive residue will benefit from repeated applications.)

5. If needed, repeat application to melt remaining residue and extend dwell time.

6. With NMD80, the longer it stays wet on the wall, the cleaner the result and the least amount of rinsing is required. After reapplication, scraping can be done further down the wall.

I. Chose the rinse style: Brick, split face and common block, natural stone, and precast use a high pressure rinse, surface dyed block, and synthetic stone use a low pressure rinse.

II. Extended dwell times dramatically reduce the amount of scraping required further down the wall.

II. The amount of foaming reaction will lessen with each application. When you apply NMD80 to a wall that is thoroughly cleaned, there will be little to no foaming as it contacts the wall. Rinse time will be dramatically reduced.

7. Begin rinsing from the top down. Use long even strokes that overlap each other. Good chemical application means that your rinsing passes can be done quickly without having to get close to the wall with the high pressure nozzle.

Just as the texture of the surface of your cleaning project can influence the effectiveness of the cleaning product you are using, the heat and sun exposure of the summer day should also be taken into account. Water evaporates quickly on hot surfaces and if the cleaning product is left to dry on the surface of the material in question, harm may occur.

Air temperature and the temperature of your masonry can affect the solution’s potency and reaction rate. Also, any testing done in cooler weather may not accurately show the product’s reaction in a warm weather situation. Testing is key to a desired outcome free of harm and/or inefficiency. You should always test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area of your project surface at the time of day, temperature and sun exposure that will most accurately represent the conditions in which the product will be used.

It would be ideal to avoid cleaning in the hottest part of the day or in direct sunlight. Flash cooling the surface of your masonry by pre-wetting the surface (but not soaking) will help to cool the surface on those hot summer days. Never allow the product to dry on the surface of your project and always rinse thoroughly while wet. More ideal conditions such as cleaning in the morning hours in temperatures of at least 40 degrees or cleaning in shaded areas and in smaller sections at a time are helpful hints to consider.

You should never try to take a guess at the final outcome of a product’s effectiveness or possibility of harm when such variables as temperature and sun exposure are in question. At EaCo Chem, Inc. we are always willing to provide as much information as possible on our products and the best possible conditions for their use. Please refer to the product specification information which can be found on our website, www.EaCoChem.com. You can also call us toll free at (800) 313-8505, or email info@eacochem.com to talk to one of our knowledgeable representatives about your specific needs.

Pavers

NMD80 is a revolutionary New Masonry Detergent that not only cleans the mortar smears from almost all masonry surfaces, but doesn’t leave behind the soluble salts that create many of the problems other HCl based cleaners can leave behind.

The NMD80 Advantage

NMD80 is a spray on/rinse off product that will not harm the substrate or mortar joints. Unlike other masonry cleaners, the secret to NMD80 is its extended dwell time. Leaving NMD80 on the surface allows the buffered NMD80 to migrate through the pores. Once thoroughly rinsed, the result is a perfectly cleaned wall without any residual staining issues which can occur when using other cleaners. What this means for you is that your brick, block or stone look crisp and sharp after being cleaned. No longer will your sales representatives have to spend unnecessary time on a job site trying to figure out why stains have occurred and how they can be removed. More to the point, manufacturers save time and most importantly money!

One Cleaner vs. Five Cleaners

Wouldn’t it be great to have one product to clean all of the various types of masonry out there today? One product that can clean a buff color brick with a band of burnished block and limestone intertwined for accents? For years it was necessary to specify a variety of products for these different surfaces. It was also necessary to take extra precautions while cleaning to not let the cleaning solution touch the surfaces that they were not intended for. The time needed to successfully use multiple cleaning products for various surfaces is no longer an issue. NMD80 is safe for most masonry surfaces, as well as glass and anodized aluminum. NMD80 is a unique buffered acid mix that provides excellent results and safety. This is just one of the reasons that more and more manufacturers have decided to specify NMD80 as the proprietary cleaner above the other cleaners on the market.

Forming a Partnership

NMD80 is not only a highly successful cleaning product; it is also the foundation of a partnership. We believe that we need to take as much ownership in our partners’ success as they do. Given that fact, we provide in-house testing and protocol reports as well as training for sales representatives and contractors, offering real solutions to manufacturers while properly supporting our partners with visits and phone support whenever necessary. Simply put, we are there for you as our partner!

So, Why Specify NMD80?

NMD80 can be the answer to so many questions for you. Ultimately, it will save you from unsightly projects that other cleaners can cause. It is the only cleaner that you should consider for all of your cleaning issues. Plus, you get a partnership with a company that actually cares about your success as much as our own.

NMD80 gives the best results with the least amount of risk. The real question is, “why not specify NMD80?”

Schedule Your Training Now!

Every year, we set out to make presentaions and inform our manufacturer partners on the benefits from NMD80 as well as the rest of our products. Our calendar is already starting to fill up and we want to make sure we include you and all of our current and future partners.

We believe that better hands on training and education concerning issues that can arise during the cleaning process will ultimately create greater satisfaction for your customers. Not only do we believe training the sales professionals are important, but our certified trainers will search for local contractors to properly train using our chemistry to support the manufacturers when an issue does arise.

Training includes:

• “Classroom” education to go over the equipment and chemistry;

• “Yard” education, where we take some sample pieces from the yard that have stains or efflorescence on them. We will then clean them and make the salable once again;

• “Field” education to show how the material actually works. This is the best hands-on training available. (if a job site is unavailable, mock up panels can work);

• AIA presentations are also available for architects

Even if you have not made the commitment to embrace NMD80 or any of our Complete Cure products, now is the time to consider learning more.

For more information or to schedule your training session, contact Howard at (800) 313-8505.

Hardscape Maintenance

Hardscape products are manufactured to last thirty to fifty years. Some are even guaranteed for a “lifetime” depending on the type and area where the product has been installed. In every instance, a maintenance program should be instituted to ensure that the product will look its best and maintain its color and texture throughout the life of the product.

We have been told by a major paver manufacturer that checks were being written on a regular basis to replace stained pavers. By taking the necessary precautions and recommending

annual maintenance, not only will you stop writing these checks, but your customer will know how to keep their investment looking just as good five or ten years later as the day it was installed!

Hardscape products are made out of either clay or concrete. Much like their vertical counterparts (brick), pavers should be treated in a similar manner. New brick gets cleaned upon construction, even if there is just some job dirt on it, so why not pavers?

Initial Installation:

The first maintenance step would be to clean the surface upon initial installation. This should be done regardless as to whether the surface is going to be sealed or not. Many of these pieces may have a white haze on the surface that can occur during the production and storage phase of the product. To leave the hardscape surface clean and crisp looking, we recommend an initial application of NMD80 at a 4:1 dilution. This product will enhance the appearance of the surface. It also will provide surface preparation if the customer desires the paver to be sealed.

Efflorescence Removal:

Installation Phase – If the product has efflorescence on the surface at the initial installation phase, NMD80 diluted 4:1 (4 parts water to 1 part chemical) can be used to remove the efflorescence. The hardscape surface can then be sealed if desired (once the surface has completely dried).

Annual Maintenance – If efflorescence appears, it can be removed either by the homeowner or property owner using Eaco Chem’s EF-Fortless (always test prior to using for surface suitability). Efflorescence can be caused by the migration of water underneath and around the surface. Sometimes this will be an annual cycle, such as every Spring, to enhance the color for the outdoor season. This also will help to lengthen the life of the product as the formation of efflorescence is a chemical reaction that causes some of the chemistry of the hardscape product to migrate with the water to form the residue on the surface. If this process is left unchecked, the surface can be damaged by this chemical reaction over time. The removal process does not harm the surface and only seeks to increase the expected life of the product.

Surface Preparation Prior to Sealing:

Dirt and debris should always be removed prior to sealing. Also, removal of stains and old sealers may be an issue on surfaces that have been down for a while. Always follow the directions of the sealer manufacturer concerning surface preparation. We recommend prepping the surface with EaCo Chem’s Britenol or Cleansol followed by a garden hose rinse for normal dirt and debris, allowing the surface to completely dry prior to sealer application. If the surface was already sealed, complete removal of the old sealer is recommended. EaCo Chem’s Acrylistrip successfully removes many of the sealers and stains out there. A test patch is always strongly recommended to determine if Acrylistrip is the right product for your particular project to remove the sealer or stain. Literature and instructions for Acrylistrip and all of our products and recommended processes can be found on our website, www.EaCoChem.com, or by calling 1-800-313-8505 to place an order.

Development of niche markets and companies burdened with trying to find effective methods to gain market exposure while still making a profit in this downturn economy has created a need for better cleaning chemistry while somehow keeping overhead low. EaCo Chem’s elite chemistry has stepped up to become some of these company’s most well-guarded secret weapons. EaCo Chem’s products are catapulting these innovative companies into a new higher class of sought-after expert project cleaners in their markets.

One such company, a power washer, whose name we will keep confidential, holds close to their vest the incredible degreasing power of EaCo Chem’s HD Degreaser. Having worked through many other products that culminated in only lackluster results, they kept searching for the right degreaser to fit their needs. After seeing a live demonstration of HD Degreaser’s power and effectiveness, they knew that they found what they were looking for.

Contracted to degrease and clean railroad track repair equipment, our customer has found HD Degreaser to be the ultimate secret weapon. HD has produced results for our customer that has elevated their reputation in the industry into being the expert “must have” company to do such work. Their little secret has helped them gain not only approval from their contractors, but has created a buzz across the railroad industry that has garnered so much new contract work that they are now traveling outside of their local market to fulfill these new contracts. The most amazing part: *Ahem* Not only are they growing their market share by leaps and bounds, but they are making an amazing profit as well!

“HD Degreaser is the best degreaser we have ever used,” simply stated our not-to-be-outed customer. Not only is HD Degreaser saving them overhead due to its superior degreasing power with only one application, but they are also thrilled that the chemistry of HD allows it to be rinsed with straight, unheated water. What does that mean to you? Even less overhead. When you don’t need a heated rinse, you save money on high priced fuel that would otherwise be used with other hot rinse products. An added bonus to not running a burner for a heated rinse is a lack of build up of hard water minerals on your equipment. This saves wear and tear on your equipment and keeps it running optimally for a longer period of time. Our customer has not only found the best chemistry for their job, but has also found a way to make the largest profit possible while extending the life of their equipment. This is the EaCo Chem advantage!

Degreasing equipment is one of the most vital ways to keep it running over time. Maintaining equipment cleanliness is another vital step in keeping your heavy duty equipment in optimal working order. For that, EaCo Chem recommends Glory BC.

Glory BC (or Blender’s Concentrate) is an effective, dilutable solution that is not only versatile, but safe as well. “But Glory BC costs more than those other guys soap, how can it possibly save me money?” you might say. Yes, you are right. It does cost more, and with good reason. EaCo Chem’s Glory BC is a very powerful super concentrate. We are not selling you high priced water and it certainly isn’t your big box store consumer’s car wash. We are offering you professional power and versatility to make our elite chemistry fit your specific project, big or small, from the very worst soil to a simple clean-up. We supply you with incredible chemistry, you supply the water. Glory BC leaves behind an unmistakable shine with no harm to, or fading of, the painted surface. This ability to produce superior shine while keeping surfaces safe from harm has become EaCo Chem’s calling card in the industry.

With Glory BC, our aforementioned customer was able to dilute the concentrate 4:1 (four parts water to one part chemical) prior to application. Then, depending on the level of equipment soil, they would dilute it down even further for repeat applications to achieve excellent results. The spray on/rinse off brushless applications saved an enormous amount of time and man hours as no brushwork was needed to achieve the desired result. Glory BC has also been used for general cleaning of railroad cars, using the same application method with the same great results.

Another loyal customer of ours restores older rail cars and re-finishes them to be placed back in circulation. There are typically two to three steps involved in this process. The first step is to clean the front and back end of the rail cars to remove the heavy accumulation of dust and debris that is generated upwards from the rail itself. When our customer first posed to us his new project specifications, we helped to isolate the best chemistry for the job and for this step, EaCo Chem’s GS Restoration was the perfect product. We also helped to test several dilutions of GSR for this step from 10:1 to 4:1 to 1:1. Even though all dilutions showed some results, ultimately using GSR undiluted did the best job for the hard to remove residue. Since this was by far the most difficult part of the car to clean, showing great success on this area was vital and achievable through EaCo Chem’s powerful chemistry.

After successfully cleaning the front and back end of the cars with GSR undiluted, we tried cleaning the remaining, less soiled sides of the cars using the same product. GSR diluted at 4:1 provided incredibly clean results creating rail cars that were paint ready, provided there were no lingering decals left to remove. If decals needed removed, the last step in the process was EaCo Chem’s Graf-Ex to remove the remaining lingering adhesive.

With these steps compete, the cars were re-painted and then ready to go, just like new.
